In Finland, this griddle pan is such a classic, original item that outdoor frying pans in general are often called "Muurikka."
Of course you can cook it on a grill or a burner, but if you attach the included legs, you can also cook it over an open fire—making all kinds of cooking possible.
This durable cast-iron frying pan requires a bit of maintenance, but you can use it and love it for a lifetime. Made in Finland

Before Use
Wash a new frying pan with a neutral detergent and hot water to remove dirt, then season it right away using the following method. Heat the pan over a gas burner, electric grill, or the even embers of a campfire, and apply a thin, even coat of cooking oil over the entire surface. Never leave a thick layer of oil in the center. As it heats, the oil will darken and at least the center will start to dry out. You can repeat this a few times, but with continued proper use it will naturally darken on its own.
Cleaning to Storage
Always wash the pan after use. The most effective way to remove dirt is to wash it right after use. Pour in a small amount of water, bring it to a boil, and clean the pan with a spatula and paper towels. After thoroughly wiping away the moisture, lightly coat the surface of the pan with cooking oil. When storing it, choose a dry place. Even if it gets rusty from exposure to moisture, you can use it again by thoroughly removing the rust with a steel brush and repeating the initial seasoning steps.
*Removing Odors with Salt
When the pan is dirty, or when you want to clean it between dishes with different flavors, salt works well. Sprinkle on plenty of salt and heat over low heat for a few minutes. The salt will absorb the oil, moisture, and grime. Once it has absorbed the dirt, scrape the salt off with a spatula or similar tool, add a little water, and wipe the pan clean. Finally, don't forget to dry the pan thoroughly and apply oil. Do that, and your Muurikka Pan will be good as new again.
